The Press Information Bureau’s fact-checking unit has dismissed as fake a viral video circulating on social media that falsely claims Lt Gen Zubin A Minwalla made communal and discriminatory remarks in connection with #OperationSindoor.
On X, Pakistani propaganda accounts are behind the circulation of the digitally manipulated clip.
The agency clarified that Lt Gen Zubin A Minwalla ‘did NOT make any such statement’ and described the video as ‘digitally manipulated’.

The fact-checking unit also shared a link to the original, unedited video to counter the misinformation campaign.
The viral clip surfaced amid heightened online activity surrounding #OperationSindoor, with several accounts amplifying misleading narratives and edited content.
Officials warned that such misinformation campaigns aim to provoke communal distrust. They also use fabricated visuals and false attribution to mislead the public.
PIB Fact Check urged citizens to remain cautious while consuming and sharing sensitive content online, especially videos related to the Government of India and the armed forces.

Authorities have repeatedly cautioned against manipulated videos, AI-generated edits, and misleading social media posts. They said coordinated disinformation campaigns increasingly use such content during sensitive national developments.
