A video circulating on YouTube has sparked confusion among railway passengers by claiming that the Ministry of Railways has discontinued train tickets.

The video, posted on the channel a1studies1210, suggested that travellers would no longer receive tickets under new rules.

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check team has firmly rejected this claim, calling it ‘fake’.

In a social media post, PIB clarified that the Ministry of Railways has issued no such directive. Train tickets, both physical and electronic, continue to be available for passengers across the country.

Taking to X, PIB Fact Check posted, “Claim -: According to the new rule of the Railway Ministry, train tickets have been discontinued, and now passengers will not get tickets. #PIBFactCheck This claim made in the video thumbnail of the YouTube channel “a1studies1210” is #fake. @RailMinIndia has not issued any such order. Counter tickets are available at all railway stations. Additionally, the facility for e-ticket booking is available on the website irctc.co.in. Please do not fall for such news. Trust only information obtained from official sources.”

Tickets Still Available at Stations & Online

The Ministry of Railways confirmed that counter tickets remain available at all railway stations. Additionally, passengers can continue booking their tickets conveniently online through the official IRCTC website, irctc.co.in.

This dual system of ticketing ensures that both offline and online passengers can access services without disruption.

The PIB has urged citizens not to fall prey to misleading claims or rumours spread through unofficial channels. Travellers have been advised to rely only on verified updates from official sources such as the Ministry of Railways and the IRCTC portal.

The clarification comes amid a growing trend of misinformation spread through social media platforms, which often misguides the public on government policies.

No such rule has been issued by the Railway Ministry to discontinue tickets.

Both counter tickets and e-tickets remain fully functional. Passengers are encouraged to stay informed through authentic government channels to avoid falling victim to misinformation.
