Delhi Police on Sunday dismissed a viral social media video in which a man claimed to have resigned as a Sub-Inspector to support the Cockroach Janata Party-led (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar.
The police said their official records contained no Sub-Inspector matching the details mentioned in the video, describing the claim as unverified and misleading.
The force urged the public not to circulate unconfirmed information and warned that legal action would be taken against those responsible for creating or sharing misleading content.
Clarification
A video is being recirculated on social media in which an individual falsely claims to be a Delhi Police Sub Inspector who recently resigned from service to join the ongoing protest.
Verification of Delhi Police records has revealed no Sub Inspector matching the details claimed in the video. The claim is therefore unverified and misleading.
Legal action will be taken as per law against those found responsible for creating or circulating misleading content.
Delhi Police had already issued a clarification on this matter on 24 July 2026 , and this time the same video is again being circulated with the malicious intent.
The public is advised to rely only on verified official information and refrain from sharing unverified claims.

Delhi Police said the same video had circulated during student protests in July, prompting an official clarification on July 24, 2026.
The force alleged that the renewed circulation aimed to mislead the public and urged people to rely on verified official information.
The clarification comes as protests continue against the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The CJP called the demonstration, demanding Kumar’s resignation.
Delhi Police have, however, registered more than 20 FIRs over alleged attempts to stage protests forcibly in the national capital.
The cases, however, involve accusations of obstructing official duties, assaulting police personnel and taking the law into one’s own hands.
Demonstrators gathered around Jantar Mantar to demand the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation over the alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision exercise.
