Delhi Police has warned citizens about an alleged coordinated misinformation campaign involving hundreds of Pakistan-based social media accounts amid heightened public protests and political activity in the national capital.

In an official social media message, the police said it had identified and blocked 480 Pakistan-based accounts accused of spreading misleading narratives, manipulated videos and inflammatory content.

Officials added that many of these accounts were also active during Operation Sindoor, indicating a recurring pattern of digital interference.

Police alleged that the accounts were attempting to exploit sensitive issues, spread misinformation and incite unrest. They urged citizens to verify videos, anonymous posts and unconfirmed claims before sharing them on social media.

Officials also appealed to the public not to let provocative content influence their emotions. While reaffirming the democratic right to peaceful protest, they stressed that people should exercise this right responsibly and avoid spreading rumours that could disturb public order.

Cyber teams continue to monitor suspicious online activity and coordinate with government agencies and social media platforms to curb the spread of false information.

Police warned that sharing unverified content could inadvertently aid anti-national elements and attract legal action.

Delhi Police dismissed as ‘false and misleading’ a viral claim that officers detained three youths at Nizamuddin Police Station for carrying food to Jantar Mantar.

Police said officers stopped the vehicle for routine identity verification and did not stop anyone from transporting food.

During the verification, the driver left with the vehicle before officers learnt that the food was intended for the protest site.

Delhi Police confirmed that officers detained no one and said the viral claim falsely portrayed a routine security check.
