The government fact-checking unit shared the tutorial as part of its continued efforts to counter digital misinformation and improve public awareness.

The video explains several visual indicators that can help users identify manipulated or artificially generated images. It advises viewers to examine unrealistic body proportions, inconsistent lighting and shadows, excessively symmetrical faces, and objects that appear to violate the laws of physics.
The tutorial demonstrates these techniques through practical examples.
One image depicts an altered farmers’ protest scene near India Gate, where distorted human figures expose signs of AI manipulation. Another example highlights incomplete and inconsistent shadows in a street photograph featuring children.
The video also presents a comparison between a deepfake face and a genuine photograph. It explains that AI-generated faces often display unnatural facial symmetry, whereas real human faces naturally contain subtle asymmetrical features.
PIB Fact Check emphasised that carefully examining such visual details can help users distinguish authentic content from fabricated material.
The agency encouraged people to remain cautious before trusting or sharing suspicious images circulating on digital platforms.
The official fact-checking unit further advised citizens to use reliable online AI-detection tools to verify doubtful visuals. It stressed that combining careful observation with trusted verification resources can significantly reduce the spread of misleading content.
