Filmmaker SS Rajamouli stated on Sunday that the ‘RRR’ team was overjoyed after Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva praised the pan-India film for its political overtones and dancing sequences.

Rajamouli, the director of the 2022 blockbuster starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, expressed his joy on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He wrote, “Sir… @LulaOficial 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you so much for your kind words. It’s heartwarming to learn that you mentioned Indian Cinema and enjoyed RRR!! Our team is ecstatic. Hope you are having a great time in our country”.

The Brazilian president was speaking with a top web outlet about an Indian film he enjoyed watching while in New Delhi for the G20 Summit.

Lula responded, “‘RRR’. It’s a three-hour feature film and it has funny scenes and very beautiful dance. There is a deep critique of British control over India. I believe it should be successful because anybody I meet, I ask ‘Have you watched the ‘RRR’ films?’ The political side I enjoyed and the dance and the joy that was shown in the film. The critique is perfect as they use humor. So, I congratulate the director and artists because it enchanted me”.

‘RRR’, is a pre-independence fictitious narrative, following two real-life Indian rebels in the 1920s, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). The film, which earned over Rs 1,200 crore in estimated earnings globally, also became the first Indian production to win the Best Original Song Oscar for its foot-tapping Telugu hit ‘Naatu Naatu’ earlier this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the ceremonial gavel to Lula on Sunday to mark the transition of the G20 presidency. Brazil will officially assume the chairmanship of the elite grouping on December 1st of this year.
