Sonam Kapoor Reveals Anil Kapoor’s Fountain of Youth: Abstinence from Alcohol and Smoking

Actress Sonam Kapoor characterized her father, the renowned actor Anil Kapoor, as an “extreme one” due to his abstention from smoking and drinking. Speaking at the launch event of Dr. Shiv K Sarin’s book “Own Your Body: A Doctor’s Life-saving Tips” in New Delhi, she shed light on the lifestyle shared by her father and his brothers – Boney and Sanjay.

‘They are all good-looking men’

Speaking about her father and uncles, the “Neerja” actor remarked, “My father is extreme; he doesn’t drink, smoke, or indulge in any vices. Boney Chachu enjoys the finer things in life, relishing food and occasionally partaking in drinks, while Sanjay Chachu maintains a moderate lifestyle, falling somewhere in between. However, they all maintain their health and good looks.” Sonam also referenced her grandfather, film producer Surinder Kapoor, noting how he maintained his appearance until his passing in 2011, aside from some white hair. The book launch event also saw the presence of Sonam’s husband, Anand Ahuja, and her father-in-law, Harish Ahuja.

‘My mom helps him stay healthy’

Despite Anil Kapoor’s avoidance of smoking and drinking, Sonam Kapoor highlighted that it’s her mother, Sunita Kapoor, who maintains a strong focus on health and keeps him in check, especially when he desires indulgence. She emphasized that her mother’s health consciousness has been evident “from the very beginning,” mentioning her initiative in establishing one of Mumbai’s earliest personal training gyms many years ago. Sonam noted, “So it is my mother who has been very, very healthy from the very beginning. Very health conscious. My dad would love to indulge sometimes, but my mother kind of controls him like a very good Indian wife.”

Upcoming work

After her appearance in the 2019 film “The Zoya Factor,” Sonam Kapoor took a hiatus from acting, only making a cameo in the 2020 film “AK vs AK.” Her return to the big screen was marked by the 2023 film “Blind,” which unfortunately received mixed reviews. Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor was recently spotted in Siddharth Anand’s film “Fighter,” sharing the screen with co-stars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.
