In a striking revelation, Somy Ali, former girlfriend of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has opened up about a chilling threatening call from the Underworld that took place during their relationship in the 1990s.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Ali recounted her experiences in Bollywood, her friendship with late actress Divya Bharti, and her encounters with Underworld figures.
Reflecting on her time with Salman, Ali shared that while rumors about Underworld connections in Bollywood were rife, direct mentions of notorious figures like Dawood Ibrahim were rare.
She further added, “I heard multiple conversations about him, but nobody took Dawood’s name directly, nor did anyone speak about Chota Shakeel. People used to call them the Underworld.”
Ali reminisced about her close bond with Divya Bharti, whom she met while filming ‘Andolan’ in Bengaluru.
In a candid exchange, she sought to understand the Underworld, to which Bharti likened it to the mafia.
“Divya asked me whether I knew what the mafia was and explained that the Underworld resembled it,” Ali recalled.
However, the conversation took a darker turn as she disclosed a harrowing experience involving a menacing phone call made to her and Salman Khan’s home.
She recounted “I lived with Salman at his Galaxy apartment for three years. Once, I received a call on our bedroom’s landline. The person on the other side threatened to abduct me, saying, Salman ko bol dena, Somy Ali ko hum utha kar le jayenge (Tell Salman that we will abduct Somy Ali).”
Ali described how Salman reacted to the threat, stating, “When I told Salman about this, he panicked but handled the situation. However, he never told me how he ‘handled’ it.”
Curious about the identity of the caller, Ali pressed Salman for answers, but he always advised her against delving into such dangerous matters.
She further asserted, “I asked Salman two to three times about this, but he replied, It’s better that you don’t know about these things.”
This revelation sheds light on the complexities of celebrity life in the 90s, where personal relationships often intersected with the lurking shadows of the Underworld.
