The Worli Police have launched an investigation following a fresh death threat and extortion demand directed at Bollywood icon Salman Khan.
An anonymous message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room warned of lethal consequences if the actor did not pay Rs 2 crore.
In response to the threat, the Worli Police have registered a case of extortion and are actively pursuing leads to identify the perpetrator.
The threat comes just days after the police arrested 20-year-old Mohammad Tayyab, also known as Gufran Khan, in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Tayyab allegedly made similar threats against both Salman Khan and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Zeeshan Siddique.
Authorities are currently transporting Tayyab to Mumbai on a transit remand, and he is likely to appear in court shortly.
His arrest followed the earlier apprehension of Shaikh Hussain Mohsin, a 24-year-old vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur, who was taken into custody for allegedly issuing a Rs 5 crore extortion threat to Khan.
Salman Khan and his family, including his father, renowned screenwriter Salim Khan, have faced numerous threats over the past few years.
Notably, suspected members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang opened fire at their residence in Bandra West, an incident that heightened concerns for their safety.
Tragically, the threats escalated following the shooting death of Baba Siddique, a close friend of Salman Khan and a veteran politician, near his son’s office during Dussehra celebrations on October 12.
This incident has raised alarm bells within the entertainment industry and the political landscape, especially with the upcoming Assembly elections set for 20 November.
