Karisma Kapoor Gets Emotional On Indian Idol As She Recalls Shooting Raja Hindustani Hit At 19

Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor revisited cherished memories from her early career and appeared visibly moved during her appearance as a special guest on Indian Idol season 16.

The moment unfolded during the ‘Yaadon Ki Playlist’ episode when contestant Banashree Biswas performed the beloved track Aaye Ho Meri Zindagi Mein from Raja Hindustani.

The performance left Karisma teary-eyed as she relived the emotions tied to one of the most celebrated romantic songs of the 1990s.

Reflecting on the experience, Karisma described the song as deeply meaningful.

“This is one of my personal favourites. It reaches my heart and soul every time I hear it,” she said, speaking warmly of the track’s emotional power.

She recalled filming the song at just 19, noting that the period marked one of the defining stages of her journey as an actor. Karisma added that the melody continues to resonate with young women, symbolising innocence, love and heartfelt emotion.

“There is something so timeless and fragile about it,” she said. “Hearing Banashree sing it today brought back memories I treasure deeply.”

Bridging Generations Through Music

Banashree’s performance created a strong emotional connection in the studio, bridging the nostalgia of Karisma’s era with contemporary musical expression.

The rendition drew applause from the judges, audience members and fellow contestants, marking it as one of the standout moments of the episode.

The poignant exchange between the actor and the young contestant will leave viewers remembering both the legacy of Raja Hindustani and the enduring charm of ’90s Hindi cinema.

Indian Idol season 16 is broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television and streams on Sony LIV.
