Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan marked her presence at the centenary celebrations of the revered spiritual master Shri Sathya Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also in attendance.
The actress greeted the Prime Minister with traditional respect, an image that swiftly captured public attention.
Aishwarya, last seen in the film Ponniyin Selvan: II, addressed the gathering with a message filled with devotion, recalling her deep-rooted association with the Sathya Sai movement.
She reflected on her formative years as a Bal Vikas student, a value-education programme run by the Sathya Sai Baba Trust that aims to instil principles of Sanathana Dharma in young learners.
In her tribute, Aishwarya expressed profound gratitude for being part of the momentous occasion.
“My heart is filled with devotion and gratitude on this sacred centenary of Bhagawan Shri Sathya Sai Baba. Though a century has passed since his birth, his compassion, teachings and guidance continue to resonate with millions worldwide,” she said.
She thanked the Prime Minister for honouring the celebration with his presence, stating that his participation added depth and significance to the event. “Your presence reminds us of Swami’s message that true leadership is service, and man’s service is service to God,” she remarked.
Aishwarya further spoke of Sathya Sai Baba’s emphasis on the ‘five Ds’, the core qualities he considered essential for a purposeful and spiritually grounded life. She said she has carried these teachings throughout her personal and professional journey, adding, “Once a Bal Vikas student, always a Bal Vikas student.”
Shri Sathya Sai Baba, one of India’s most influential spiritual figures, dedicated his life to promoting compassion, unity and service. His humanitarian contributions, from global educational institutions to health and social service initiatives, continue to impact communities around the world.
