Actor Manav Gohil, who plays Sushant Bansal, Deputy Director of the Intelligence Bureau in Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, spoke about the film’s impact and the social media buzz surrounding it.
He noted that ‘Dhurandhar’ represents a more evolved and global form of filmmaking, adding that modern audiences now look for meaningful cinema that entertains and engages, rather than productions made purely for profit.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Manav said, “Times are changing. Audiences today are more aware and value honesty and creativity in cinema. It is important to create meaningful and honest cinema that truly entertains. There are no shortcuts anymore, and I hope this trend continues.”
Moreover, Manav highlighted that ‘Dhurandhar’ could mark the start of a new era in Bollywood filmmaking, one that prioritises storytelling and authenticity over gimmicks.
He expressed hope that this trend towards thoughtful, engaging films would continue in the industry.
The film’s influence has extended beyond theatres. Recently, a social media post circulated showing an Accounts exam paper featuring ‘Dhurandhar’ characters, reflecting the cultural impact of the film.
One question read: “Jameel Jamali, SP Chaudhary, Aslan, and Yalina Jamali share profits and losses equally. SP Chaudhary retires. What is the new profit-sharing ratio?”
Starring Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi, ‘Dhurandhar’ has taken the box office by storm.
Its engaging narrative, memorable characters, and thought-provoking themes have further resonated with audiences nationwide, sparking discussions and memes on social media and establishing the film as a landmark in contemporary Bollywood cinema.
