The biopic of Olympic athlete Milkha Singh by Farhan Akhtar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, just celebrated its tenth anniversary. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s creators re-released the movie in theatres in Indian Sign Language (ISL) to commemorate the event. The cast and crew attended a special screening of the movie in Mumbai for those who have hearing loss.
Re-release of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in sign language
On July 28, actor Farhan Akhtar, who played the part of “the Flying Sikh” in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, posted photos to Instagram from the screening of the movie hosted for those who have hearing loss. The Mumbai premiere also featured fellow cast member Divya Dutta, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and Milkha Singh’s daughter Sonia Milkha Singh. The information about the film’s re-release in sign language was provided by Farhan in the post’s caption.
He wrote, “A screening for hearing-impaired people was conducted in Mumbai to commemorate ten years after Milkha Ji’s narrative was put on film. A sign language adaptation of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was produced after months of work by the Indian Sign Language Organisation (ISL), Viacom 18, and Bharathi Mehra. Their work is above and beyond amazing. Being there and taking part in this historical event was simply overwhelming. We appreciate @pvrcinemas_official’s help in rereleasing the movie in sign language on more than 30 screens around the nation.
