Dominant Display in the Final
India sealed the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup title on Friday with a commanding 100-run victory over England at the Harare Sports Club. The win marked India’s sixth U19 World Cup crown, extending their record as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
The final witnessed a sensational performance from 14-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who produced a stunning 175 from just 80 deliveries. His explosive innings, laced with 15 boundaries and an equal number of sixes, set a new benchmark for the highest score ever recorded in a U19 World Cup final.
Captain Ayush Mhatre played a steady knock of 53, while wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu added valuable runs with a 40, guiding India to an imposing total of 411 for 9.
England showed early intent in their chase, but the pressure of the target triggered a collapse in the middle order. Although Caleb Falconer fought valiantly with a superb 115, his effort was not enough to prevent India from cruising to a comprehensive win.
Away from cricket, Amitabh Bachchan recently shared a thoughtful reflection on life, struggle and silence. Drawing parallels between the philosophies of his father, the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and celebrated poet Firaq Gorakhpuri, the actor once again connected with audiences through his introspective words.
