Jharkhand Results 2024: Key Seats To Watch As BJP And JMM Brace For Battle

This election witnessed a record voter turnout of 67.74%, the highest since the state’s formation in 2000. A total of 1,211 candidates are contesting, including BJP’s Babulal Marandi in Dhanwar and JMM’s Rabindra Nath Mahato in Nala.

The results of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 will reveal the fate of all 81 constituencies. Political parties eagerly await the outcome, which will determine whether the BJP-led NDA or the JMM-led INDIA bloc forms the next government. Counting of postal ballots begins at 8 AM, with trends expected by 9 AM.

Gandey: A Test for Kalpana Soren

Kalpana Soren, Hemant’s wife, is contesting in Gandey against BJP’s Muniya Devi. Kalpana secured a significant win in a 2024 by-election, defeating BJP’s Dilip Verma. Her performance will influence the JMM’s standing.

Key Constituencies Define the Battle

Chandankiyari: BJP’s Amar Kumar Bauri faces JMM’s Umakant Rajak. The result will shape political influence in Bokaro.

Seraikella: Champai Soren, now with the BJP, contests against Ganesh Mahali of JMM. The race reflects shifting alliances and voter sentiment.

Dumka: Hemant Soren’s brother, Basant Soren, defends his seat against BJP’s Sunil Soren. This contest tests the Soren family’s influence.

Ranchi: BJP’s CP Singh, a six-time winner, faces JMM’s Mahua Maji. This constituency remains a stronghold for the BJP.

Lohardaga: Congress’ Rameshwar Oraon goes up against BJP’s Niru Shanti Bhagat. Tribal votes will decide the outcome here.

Dhanwar: BJP’s Babulal Marandi faces JMM’s Niazamuddin Ansari. Marandi’s popularity in Giridih adds weight to this contest.

Jamtara: Congress’ Irfan Ansari faces JMM’s Sita Soren. Personal rivalries intensify the contest.

Madhupur: JMM’s Hafizul Hasan competes against BJP’s Ganga Narayan Singh. Local dynamics hold the key here.

Jharkhand Polls: Political Landscape

The BJP-led NDA fielded candidates in 68 seats, with allies contesting 13 others. The INDIA bloc, led by JMM, fielded candidates in 43 seats, alongside Congress in 30 and RJD in six. In 2019, the JMM-led alliance won 47 seats, while the BJP secured 25.

With 26 million voters, including 1.18 million first-time voters, the stage is set for a closely contested election. Key seats will determine whether the BJP regains ground or the INDIA bloc retains its majority.
