Stock market closed: The pressure was seen in the market on the first day of the MPC meeting. Nifty closed down 89 points at 17,765, Nifty Bank down 125 points at 41,375 and Sensex closed down 335 points at 60,507. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 34 closed in the red and 16 closed in the green. Out of 12 shares of Nifty Bank, 8 closed in red and 4 in green. There was buying in 7 stocks of Sensex while there was selling in 23. Pressure was seen in Pharma and Auto stocks. Midcap, Smallcap indices closed with gains today. Slight gains were seen in PSE, PSU Bank, and Realty Index. Selling was seen in metal, energy, and IT stocks.
