Indian equity benchmarks posted robust gains on Wednesday morning, buoyed by a rebound in information technology (IT) stocks following an overnight recovery in US tech shares.

At 9:30 AM, the BSE Sensex climbed 559 points, or 0.69 per cent, to 82,785, while the Nifty 50 rose 157 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 25,582.

Broader markets mirrored the positive momentum. The Nifty Midcap 100 advanced 0.27 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.46 per cent, reflecting buying interest beyond frontline stocks.

All major sectoral indices traded in positive territory, with Nifty IT emerging as the top performer, surging 1.91 per cent. The Nifty Metal index also registered a strong rise of 1.43 per cent.

The upmove followed gains on Wall Street, where technology counters supported the rally.

Analysts, however, cautioned that sentiment may remain guarded due to persistent US–Iran geopolitical tensions and firm crude oil prices.

Concerns over artificial intelligence-driven disruptions in global technology stocks are also weighing on broader risk appetite.

On Tuesday, coinciding with the monthly derivatives expiry, markets had closed sharply lower.

The Nifty fell 259 points to settle at 25,459, wiping out nearly Rs 2.85 lakh crore in investor wealth among BSE-listed companies.

Technical Levels to Watch

Market experts indicated that the 200-DEMA near 25,240 could act as crucial support, while the 25,640–25,770 band may limit upside attempts.

Immediate support stands at 25,300, while resistance sits at 25,600–25,700. For Bank Nifty, support lies in the 60,900–60,600 zone, while resistance is placed at 61,500–61,700.

Across Asia, Shanghai gained 0.87 per cent, Shenzhen 0.94 per cent, Nikkei 1.44 per cent, Hang Seng 0.46 per cent, and Kospi 2.33 per cent. In the US, Nasdaq rose 1.05 per cent, S&P 500 added 0.77 per cent, and Dow Jones advanced 0.76 per cent.

On February 24, foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 103 crore, while domestic institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 3,161 crore.
