The rise in the general index of AL and RL was mainly attributed to the food group, contributing to the extent of 9.59 points and 8.96 points, respectively. The index variations varied across different states. In the case of AL, 17 states experienced an increase of 2-20 points, while Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir recorded a decrease of 4 points and 18 points, respectively. Kerala remained unchanged.
