PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) said the BRICS New Delhi Declaration could create new opportunities for Indian industry.

The chamber further said the framework could support exports, MSMEs, manufacturing, investment, digital payments and integration with global value chains.

The Declaration places strong emphasis on internationalising MSMEs. It, however, recognises affordable finance as a major hurdle to their participation in international trade and global value chains.

Its focus on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, green economy and climate finance could, however, create new opportunities. These areas could benefit Indian technology, infrastructure, clean-energy and serv

PHDCCI said implementation will determine BRICS’ economic impact. Practical mechanisms for market access, trade finance, payments, logistics, investment and technology cooperation will, however, remain crucial.

“BRICS presents India with an opportunity to move beyond a traditional export-import relationship towards deeper production, investment and technology partnerships. India can strengthen its role in building resilient global value chains. This can create new opportunities for manufacturing, investment and employment across member countries,” said Dr Ranjeet Mehta, SG and CEO.
