Opening Bell: SGX Nifty Indicates An Opening In Red For Indian Market

Rupee opens up 0.01 percent at 82.8425 per U.S. Dollar; previous close 82.8475. Oil prices climbed on Wednesday as markets were optimistic about fuel demand recovery as China continues to ease its COVID-19 restrictions.

Asian Market

Opening Bell: Asian equities were subdued on Wednesday, while the dollar held firm, with investors looking for direction after China took further steps towards reopening its COVID-battered economy. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan slid 0.13 percent, snapping a two-day winning streak and looking set to end the last month of the year in the red.

Tokyo shares opened lower on Wednesday, taking cues from US tech shares that headed south in thin holiday trading.The benchmark Nikkei 225 index lost 0.50 percent, or 131.07 points, to 26,316.80 at the open, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.11 percent, or 2.15 points, to 1,908.00.

Brent oil price gained 0.20 percent to touch $84.50 a barrel in early trade on Wednesday.

Gold is also trading in green. Spot gold lost 0.23 percent to $1,818.90 per ounce as of 7:40 am on Wednesday.

Bitcoin was trading 0.89 percent lower at $16,686.74 at 7:40 am on Wednesday while the Ethereum blockchain network lost 0.72 percent in the last 24 hours to trade at $1,208.14.

Wall Street ended lower at the beginning of a holiday shortened week on Tuesday, as rising U.S. Treasury yields pressured interest rate sensitive megacap shares.

United State, S&P 500 is trading 0.4 percent lower at 3829.25. Dow Jones is trading in green with gain of 0.11percent at 33,241.56.

SGX Nifty is trading 0.15 percent lower at 18,121.00.

Japan, Nikkei 225 is trading 0.46 percent lower at 26,325.13. Straits Times is trading 0.46 percent lower at 3,265.92.

China, Hang Seng  is trading with the gain of 1.53 percent at 19,892.56. Taiwan Weighted is trading 1.43 percent lower at 14,122.89.

South korea, Kospi is trading  2.17 percent lower at 2,282.08. Shanghai Composite is trading 0.21 percent lower at 3088.93.
