Mundra International Airport Begins Commercial Operations With Star Air Flight

Mundra International Airport reached a major milestone today as it officially launched commercial flight services.

The airport welcomed its first passenger aircraft, signalling the beginning of regular operations and a new chapter for aviation infrastructure in Gujarat.

The inaugural commercial service, operated by Star Air from Goa, touched down at Mundra Airport to a traditional water cannon salute.

Airport authorities and staff gathered to witness the landmark occasion, celebrating the airport’s long-awaited entry into the commercial aviation sector.

The flight’s successful arrival was a significant achievement for the facility and shows it’s ready to handle scheduled passenger services.

The aircraft landed safely on the airport’s newly developed 1,900-metre runway, paving the way for full-scale commercial operations.

The new airport will play a key role in strengthening Gujarat’s transport network and also driving economic activity across the region.

Mundra already holds strategic importance as the location of one of India’s largest private ports.

The addition of air services is expected to enhance its position as a major logistics and business hub.

With the introduction of services to Mundra, Star Air has, however, added the city as the 32nd destination in its domestic route network.

The airline said the new service will improve connectivity between Mundra and key Indian cities. These include Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Goa, Surat, Belagavi, Bengaluru, Kolhapur, and Nanded.

Under its operational schedule, Star Air will operate direct flights between Mumbai and Mundra five days a week. It will also operate flights between Delhi NCR and Mundra three times a week.

Industry observers view the launch of commercial operations at Mundra Airport as an important step for Gujarat’s expanding industrial landscape.

Enhanced air connectivity will facilitate business travel, strengthen logistics networks, and also attract new investment opportunities.

The launch of commercial operations at the airport will accelerate regional development. It will also support trade, commerce, and long-term economic growth across western India.
