Kinetic Group, a leading manufacturer of automotive components, has officially entered India’s electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing sector. The company announced its foray on February 21, revealing the establishment of a new battery production facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, with an investment of Rs 50 crore. This move is part of Kinetic’s strategy to contribute to India’s growing EV market.
The new facility, located in Pune, aims to produce 60,000 units of Kinetic Group’s Range-X brand batteries, designed specifically for two and three-wheeler electric vehicles. The facility will focus on manufacturing both Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) batteries. Kinetic plans to extend its battery supply to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) beyond its own consumption, further expanding its role in the EV sector.
Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Group, emphasized the significance of the new plant. He stated, “Range-X is a result of pioneering work in batteries and a significant step towards India’s mobility transformation.”
The Ahmednagar plant is not only a milestone for Kinetic Group but also a symbol of self-reliance, safety, and sustainability in battery technology. The facility will incorporate automation and smart technology, which will ensure reliable, efficient, and clean energy solutions for the electric mobility sector.

Firodia also highlighted the plant’s role in advancing battery technology with a focus on developing prismatic cells tailored for three-wheelers. As India’s EV market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.52%, potentially reaching USD 18.319 billion by 2029, Kinetic Group is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for high-quality EV batteries.
Kinetic Group’s Range-X batteries utilize the latest LFP technology, known for its stable chemical composition that reduces the risk of thermal runaway. This ensures that the batteries maintain peak performance even in extreme temperatures, contributing to enhanced safety and durability. Additionally, the integration of a smart Battery Management System (BMS) improves both the efficiency and health of the batteries.
The company is also set to produce NMC batteries, which leverage advanced energy density technology, offering long-lasting power suitable for various EV applications. This move aligns with the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes introduced under the PM E-drive initiative, which supports the localization of battery technology and manufacturing under the Make in India program.
With Kinetic Group’s investment and focus on cutting-edge battery technology, the company is poised to play a key role in India’s EV revolution. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, Kinetic’s state-of-the-art facility in Ahmednagar will help power the country’s transition to a more sustainable, clean energy-driven future.
