Karan Adani Says Odisha Will Drive India’s Next Growth Phase

Adani Group Managing Director Karan Adani described Odisha as the heart of eastern India’s economic development while announcing a $11.5 billion (around ₹1.08 lakh crore) integrated aluminium project in partnership with Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC).

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony in Bhubaneswar, Karan Adani said the investment would accelerate industrial growth, create employment and strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities.

Karan Adani noted that Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani views Odisha as a state defined by resilience, opportunity and leadership rather than just natural resources. He said the project represents a major step towards transforming Odisha into a leading industrial hub capable of driving India’s next phase of economic growth.

Highlighting the state’s strengths, Karan Adani said Odisha combines a rich cultural heritage with immense industrial potential.

The state holds India’s largest bauxite reserves, more than half of the country’s iron ore reserves and significant coal deposits, making it a key pillar of India’s industrial and energy sectors.

Karan Adani also praised the proactive policies of the Odisha government under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, saying strong governance and industry-friendly reforms are helping the state evolve from a supplier of raw materials into a value-added manufacturing destination.

Karan Adani said the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, adding that a developed India requires a prosperous and industrially advanced Odisha. He said Odisha should add value to its mineral resources, expand manufacturing and create more jobs.

Adani Group Managing Director added that the project will support local businesses, strengthen supply chains and attract further investment.

Karan Adani said the initiative will position Odisha as a global manufacturing hub while creating jobs, improving livelihoods and supporting inclusive economic growth.
