IndiGo announced a codeshare deal with British Airways on Thursday.

In a release, the airline stated, “Under this partnership, British Airways will add its code to a couple of destinations across IndiGo’s network and customers can enjoy improved connectivity between India and the United Kingdom for travel”.

Subject to government approval, codeshare flights will be available for booking on Thursday for travel beginning October 12, 2023.

Abhijit Dasgupta, senior vice president for network planning and revenue management at IndiGo, stated, “We announce our codeshare agreement with British Airways. This partnership expands the choices available to British Airways customers for journeys to/from London Heathrow, using IndiGo’s extensive network in India”.

Codesharing enables an airline to book its passengers on a partner airline and provide seamless travel to destinations where it does not have a presence.

British Airways provides 56 weekly flights to five Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.

IndiGo currently has codeshare agreements with Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, American Airlines, Air France-KLM, Qantas, and Virgin Atlantic. IndiGo also has an interline pact with Jetstar.

An interline arrangement is a contract to issue and accept tickets for flights operated by the partner airline.
