India’s first bullet train project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, is making rapid progress. It is currently building a 200-meter-long ‘Make in India’ steel bridge in Nadiad, Gujarat. This bridge, near National Highway 48, plays a crucial role in linking Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. Moreover, the construction highlights India’s push for self-reliance in major infrastructure projects.
The bridge near Nadiad marks a significant achievement in India’s high-speed rail network. It strengthens the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train Project, boosting connectivity and efficiency.
The structure consists of two spans of 100 meters each. It has a width of 14.3 meters and a height of 14.6 meters. In addition, the bridge uses tension-controlled high-strength bolts, manufactured by Salasar Workshop in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. This enhances construction flexibility and ensures strong support over railway lines and highways.
The project includes 28 steel bridges, with 27 in Gujarat and one in Maharashtra. So far, engineers have completed six bridges in Gujarat, showing steady progress.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), leading the project, aims to start operations in Gujarat by 2026. Meanwhile, the bullet train project continues to gain momentum, bringing India closer to its high-speed rail dream.
