Indian Airlines Boost Weekly Flights By 5.5% For Summer 2025

Indian airlines are preparing for a busy summer season with a 5.5% increase in weekly flights, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The latest schedule includes 25,610 weekly departures across 129 airports, compared to 24,275 flights last year.

The summer schedule will run from March 30 to October 25, 2025.

The February 2025 slot conference finalized this expanded schedule. The increase highlights growing passenger demand and India’s rising aviation capacity.

Scheduled airlines will introduce services at seven new airports: Ambikapur, Datia, Bidar, Porbandar, Pakyong, Rewa, and Solapur.

At the same time, operations at Azamgarh and Rupsi airports have been suspended for the summer season.

The expansion aims to enhance connectivity to underserved regions, boosting economic growth and travel accessibility.

IndiGo will continue to lead domestic operations, with 14,158 weekly flights. Air India follows with 4,310 departures, while Air India Express has 3,375 flights scheduled.

However, SpiceJet’s operations have declined by 25%, reducing its weekly flights from 1,657 to 1,240.

Regional carriers Alliance Air and Flybig have also cut back operations by 41.96% and 30.98%, respectively.

In contrast, Fly 91 has experienced massive growth, increasing from just 20 weekly departures last year to 123 flights in 2025—a 515% surge.

The rise in air traffic, combined with new routes and airline expansions, marks a strong summer travel season.

Indian carriers are set to meet rising demand, making air travel more accessible and efficient across the country.
