Govt Schemes Like GeM Open Doors For Women Entrepreneurs

GeM Provides Procurement Opportunities For Women

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has reserved 3% of its procurement for women-run MSMEs, creating a Rs 3,000 crore opportunity for women entrepreneurs.

This scheme allows women-led businesses to sell goods and services to government departments and PSUs.

To qualify, women entrepreneurs must register their MSMEs on the GeM portal and provide details about the products and services they offer.

This initiative is an essential step in facilitating market access for women entrepreneurs, who often face challenges in reaching large-scale buyers.

Moreover, several state governments also provide similar facilities to empower women-run MSMEs.

Stand-Up India & CGTMSE Offer Easy Financing

Under the Stand-Up India scheme, the government provides loans of up to Rs 2 crore for women entrepreneurs without collateral.

This scheme particularly benefits women from SC/ST communities, enabling them to start and expand businesses with financial support.

The scheme has been designed to ease the financial burden, making it easier for women to access capital for growth.

Similarly, the Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) supports new women entrepreneurs by offering up to Rs 5 lakh in loans without the need for third-party guarantees or collateral.

Women can receive up to 90% of the loan amount guaranteed under this scheme, making it a vital tool for those who do not own property to pledge.

Enabling Growth In A Male-Dominated Market

According to Anil Bharadwaj, Secretary General of FISME, these schemes help women overcome challenges such as the lack of assets for collateral.

In a society where women traditionally face barriers in accessing financing, these programs offer much-needed support, leveling the playing field and enabling women entrepreneurs to compete in various sectors.

The financial and market access provided by the government schemes help women-led businesses to grow and become more competitive in the national and global markets.

As more women enter entrepreneurship, these initiatives help to foster a more inclusive and diverse business environment that contributes to economic growth.

Government policies and initiatives are now designed to ensure that women entrepreneurs gain access to both markets and funding.

The implementation of these schemes plays a crucial role in breaking down the barriers that have traditionally restricted women from entering business.

Additionally, these initiatives align with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, promoting self-reliance and empowering women to contribute significantly to India’s economic progress.

The push for inclusivity through initiatives like GeM, Stand-Up India, and CGTMSE not only aids in the growth of women entrepreneurs but also helps diversify India’s business landscape.

These programs create a more supportive environment for women entrepreneurs, driving long-term economic development and fostering a more equitable and prosperous society.
