DIC India has increased its printing ink capacity by 10,000 tonnes per year with the commissioning of its fifth plant in Gujarat on Wednesday.
The company intends to use it to serve both domestic and international markets.
A leading manufacturer of printing ink, DIC India, has invested close to Rs 110 crore in phase one of a new plant in Gujarat’s Bharuch district, bringing the nation’s total printing ink production capacity to nearly 65,000 tonnes annually.
The plant will be expanded to produce value-added and specialty products for both domestic and export markets.
The company already serves a wide range of industries, including newspapers, magazines, and other printing and packaging establishments, and it has manufacturing facilities in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat (Ahmedabad), and Karnataka.

DIC Asia Pacific Regional Managing Director Paul Koek stated, “The company intends to use India as a manufacturing hub to serve both domestic and export markets”.
He further said, “In order to support business growth, the company is anticipating the various FTAs that the Indian government is currently negotiating”.
“With more countries opening up trade, DIC India, which currently contributes 15% of the group’s Asia Pacific revenues, expects that percentage to rise”, Mr. Koek added.
“The Indian market is a priority market for the DIC group, and this new manufacturing facility was established with the vision of catering to new demand as well as ushering in new growth prospects for us in the country”, he went on to say.

Manish Bhatia, MD & CEO of DIC India said, “A separate PLI scheme for the chemicals sector could encourage more foreign companies to invest in India”.
“We are optimistic that the new manufacturing facility will help us meet both domestic and international demand, as well as expand our footprint in India,” he added.
DIC Japan, through DIC Asia Pacific Ltd Singapore, owns approximately 71.75% of DIC India.
