Apple is set to generate an estimated $11 billion in revenue from iPhone sales this year, marking a significant increase from the $9 billion achieved last year. This surge is expected to be largely driven by the launch of the iPhone 16e, a more affordable version of Apple’s high-end models like the iPhone SE and iPhone 14.
According to industry experts, the iPhone 16e’s price point Rs 20,000 lower than the standard iPhone 16 makes it an attractive option for emerging markets, particularly India. Market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed that Apple sold approximately 12 million iPhones in India last year. While this number remains lower compared to competitors like Vivo and Samsung, Apple’s premium pricing strategy allows the brand to remain the highest-earning smartphone manufacturer in India.
With the iPhone 16e, Apple aims to tap into the average-ticket customer base traditionally dominated by Vivo and Samsung. Analysts predict that Apple will sell around 15 million units of the iPhone this year, which will contribute to a significant boost in revenue.
The iPhone 16e comes equipped with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, a durable aerospace-grade aluminum frame, and a sleek glass back. It is available in classic black and white color options. The device is powered by Apple’s latest A18 chip, which ensures seamless performance. Additionally, the iPhone 16e introduces Apple’s in-house C1 modem, which enhances connectivity and reduces the brand’s reliance on third-party suppliers.

A standout feature of the iPhone 16e is Apple Intelligence, which rivals AI-driven solutions like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. This advanced AI technology offers enhanced writing tools, visual intelligence, and more. The device also includes a new Action Button, Face ID, and a USB-C port for added convenience.
In India, the iPhone 16e is priced at Rs 59,900 for the 128GB model, Rs 69,900 for the 256GB model, and Rs 89,900 for the 512GB version. Pre-orders for the new iPhone began on February 21, with official sales set to start on February 28. Experts believe that the iPhone 16e will attract a larger pool of new buyers and potential upgraders, further boosting Apple’s market share in India.
Aligning with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Apple has begun manufacturing the iPhone 16e locally. Local production is expected to help reduce costs, improve supply chain efficiency, and solidify Apple’s growing presence in the Indian market.
With the iPhone 16e, Apple is strategically positioning itself to capture a larger segment of India’s rapidly expanding smartphone market, which is crucial for the company’s future growth in the region.
