The Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet of 2024 was marked by the absence of Shri Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, due to ‘unavoidable’ circumstances. However, his message, delivered through a video, echoed the spirit of collaboration and progress that Reliance has fostered in Tamil Nadu.
Acknowledging Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage and its flourishing strides in industry, agriculture, and services, Shri Ambani lauded the state’s evolution into a significant contributor to India’s progress. Under the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, Tamil Nadu has emerged as one of the most ‘business friendly’ states in the country. Consequently, Ambani believes that the state is poised to achieve the ambitious milestone of becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
Highlighting Reliance’s integral role in Tamil Nadu’s growth story, Ambani revealed the company’s substantial investments and partnerships within the state. Reliance has established close to 1,300 retail stores, injecting over Rs. 25,000 crores into the local economy. Additionally, Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance, has invested over Rs. 35,000 crores, enabling 35 million subscribers across towns and villages in Tamil Nadu to access the digital revolution.
He also mentioned that a significant achievement was celebrated with the completion of the fastest 5G rollout globally by Jio in December. This technological leap promises to usher in a new era for Tamil Nadu, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence and other fourth-industrial revolution technologies to accelerate the state’s economic growth.
Ambani further added that in collaboration with international partners, Reliance is set to inaugurate a cutting-edge data center in the state, a joint effort with Canada’s Brookfield Asset Management and US-based Digital Realty. This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to Reliance’s commitment to advancing Tamil Nadu’s technological infrastructure.
Looking towards the future, Shri Ambani outlined Reliance’s dedication to investing in renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives in Tamil Nadu. Emphasizing the urgency of sustainable development in combating the climate crisis, he expressed confidence in the state government’s support for Reliance’s forthcoming endeavors, underpinned by viable policies.
In conclusion, Shri Ambani extended his best wishes for the success of the summit, underscoring Reliance’s unwavering commitment to Tamil Nadu’s growth trajectory while promoting sustainable development for the benefit of the state and the planet as a whole.
