Congress sets up 8 Election Committees for Lok Sabha elections 2024
Aside from a political affairs committee for Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has established election committees in multiple states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh. The action was taken in advance of this year’s Lok Sabha elections.
“The Congress president has approved the proposal of the constitution of Pradesh Election Committees of Rajasthan, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura, and Pradesh Election Committee and Political Affairs Committee of Madhya Pradesh, with immediate effect,” an official communication from the party said.
Rajasthan Election Committee
Govind Singh Dotasra, the head of the Rajasthan PCC, was named the state’s Pradesh Election Committee chairman. Ashok Gehlot, a former chief minister, is a member of the committee.
In addition, the following individuals are on the committee: Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Mohan Prakash, C P Joshi, Harish Choudhary, Ramlal Jat, Pramod Jain Bhaya, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Mamta Bhupesh, Bhajan Lal Jatav, Murari Lal Meena, Ashok Chandna, Neeraj Dangi, Zubair Khan, Dheeraj Gurjar, Rajkumar Sharma, Rohit Bohra, Indra Meena, Dungar Ram Gedar, Shimla Devi Nayak, and Lalit Yadav.
Kerala Election Committee
The group also includes the chief organizer of Seva Dal, the president of Pradesh Mahila Congress, the president of the Youth Congress, and the president of NSUI. Kerala Pradesh Election Committee chairperson K Sudhakar was named.
Senior figures including Mullapalli Ramachandran, A K Antony, V D Satheeshan, K Suresh, Shashi Tharoor, Vayalar Ravi, K C Venugopal, and Ramesh Chennithala are among those on the Kerala committee.
Telangana And Himachal Pradesh Election Committee
A Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, was named chairman of the state’s Pradesh Election Committee. The committee comprises Uttam Kumar Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, and Bhatti B Vikramarka Mallu, the deputy chief minister.
The Pradesh Election Committee in Himachal Pradesh, which includes senior leaders like Anand Sharma, Viplove Thakur, Asha Kumari, Ram Lal Thakur, Thakur Kaul Singh, Dhaniram Shandil, and Chander Kumar as members, was chaired by PCC chief Pratibha Singh. The deputy chief minister is Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
Madhya Pradesh Election Committee
The Pradesh Election Committee for Madhya Pradesh will be led by Jitu Patwari and comprise Digvijaya Singh, Vivek Tankha, Suresh Pachauri, Kantilal Bhuria, and former chief minister Kamal Nath. The party also established a Political Affairs Committee for Madhya Pradesh, which would be led by the state’s AICC representative, Jitendra Singh. The panel, which consists of Nakul Nath, Arun Yadav, Vivek Tankha, Digvijaya Singh, and Kamal Nath, will be convened by Patwari.
Chhattisgarh and Manipur Election Committee
Deepak Baij, the head of the PCC, was named chairman of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Election Committee. In addition to Charan Das Mahant and Tamradhwaj Sahu, it would have former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and former deputy chief minister T S Singh Deo as members.
In Manipur, former deputy chief minister Gaikhangam and former chief minister Ibobi Singh were among the members of the Pradesh Election Committee, which K Meghachandra Singh was named head of. Asish Kumar Saha was named chairman of the Tripura Pradesh Election Committee, and S Supongmeren Jamir was named chairman of the Nagaland Pradesh Election Committee.
