Adani Group Unveils $75 Billion Investment Plan To Accelerate India’s Energy Transition

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani announced that the conglomerate will invest more than $75 billion in the energy transition sector over the next five years.

Speaking at the 100th anniversary celebration of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, he highlighted the company’s ambitious plans to expand its renewable energy footprint and help reshape the global green economy.

Adani said the Group has already positioned itself among the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy companies.

He noted that the global green transition will become the largest industry of the era, valued at several trillion dollars over the coming decades.

He stated that this shift towards clean energy will drive electricity-based manufacturing, green steel, green fertilisers, hydrogen production systems, and the critical infrastructure required to support artificial intelligence and digital economies.

India’s Rising Role in Global Sustainability

Gautam Adani also addressed what he described as a ‘weaponised narrative’ at the recent COP-30 summit in Brazil, where a report downgraded India’s sustainability ranking.

The report cited India’s lack of a formal coal-exit timeline and the continued auctioning of coal blocks.

Countering these claims, Adani pointed out that India’s per capita carbon dioxide emissions remain among the lowest in the world. He stressed that the country is leading the fastest energy transition in human history.

“Bharat did not heat this planet. Yet, much of the developed world now expects Bharat to cool the earth,” he said.

The industrialist highlighted that more than 50 per cent of India’s installed electricity generation capacity now comes from non-fossil sources, five years ahead of the globally agreed target.

He further added that no other major nation has altered its energy mix as dramatically since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Gautam Adani also shared personal reflections and advice for students, emphasising perseverance in the face of challenges.

He told them that ‘success is never granted — you mine it and extract it’, and he encouraged them to shape India’s future through hard work and innovation.

Calling the students ‘the next generation of Bharat’s freedom fighters’, he also urged them to contribute to the nation’s journey towards economic and resource independence.

“You are not just extracting resources, you are extracting sovereignty. You are not just mining minerals, you are mining dignity,” he said, inspiring the young audience to pursue nation-building with purpose and determination.
