Adani Group Plans 2.5-Fold Increase in Solar Manufacturing Capacity by 2027

Adani Group is planning to increase its presence in the solar energy market by establishing a 10 gigawatt integrated solar manufacturing capacity by 2027, aiming to enhance its current 4 gigawatt solar manufacturing capacity. Adani Group is focused on its green energy business, emphasizing a transition towards green energy. The expansion is based on new technology and partnerships with major global organizations and certification laboratories like IEC, UNESDA, PI Berlin, and Fraunhofer, which have helped strengthen the company’s technological capabilities.

Adani Solar has been a leader in both large-scale and technology aspects of the domestic solar PV industry since its inception. It is at the forefront of adopting new technology and implementing digital transformations. The company’s solar panels are being exported to more than 3,500 cities across India, making it a significant player in the rooftop and PM-KUSUM segments. Adani Solar has also made strategic moves to strengthen its supply chain with the construction of a 2-gigawatt cell line, equipped with ingot-wafer (the first of its kind in India) and topcon technology, further securing a strong order book in both domestic and international markets.

Adani Solar achieved the status of being India’s only solar panel manufacturer to consistently achieve top performance for six consecutive years in the PVEL (Downstream Solar and Energy Storage industry’s leading independent testing laboratory). Adani Solar’s journey in solar panel manufacturing began in 2015, and in less than six years, it has scaled its capacity to over 4 gigawatts. Adani Group is establishing a massive 10 gigawatt integrated and comprehensive solar manufacturing unit in Mundra, Gujarat, which is set to become the group’s largest manufacturing unit and generate 13,000 jobs.

The group plans to focus on increasing its capacity by 5 gigawatts each year and aims to become the biggest manufacturing company in the sector by 2030. In 2016, Adani Solar started with a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts, and in less than six years, it has increased its capacity threefold. As of 2023, Adani Solar is among the top three solar module suppliers in the world, according to Mercom’s Indian Solar Market Leaderboard.
