Adani Green Adds 5 GW Renewable Capacity In FY26; Total Portfolio Reaches 19.3 GW

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) on Wednesday announced that it added over 5 GW (5,051 MW) of renewable energy capacity in FY26, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW. This marks the highest annual greenfield capacity addition globally by any company outside China.

The newly added capacity includes 3.4 GW of solar, 0.7 GW of wind, and 1 GW of wind-solar hybrid energy.

The expansion will offset around 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, while AGEL’s overall portfolio will contribute nearly 36 million tonnes in total each year.

Executive Director Sagar Adani described the milestone as a significant moment for India’s renewable energy sector, stating that it accelerates the country’s transition towards a low-carbon economy while enhancing energy security. He added that the company remains on track to achieve its target of 50 GW capacity by 2030.

A major portion of the new capacity has been commissioned at the massive renewable energy project in Khavda, which is being developed at a rapid pace.

Spread across 538 square kilometres, nearly five times the size of Paris, the project aims to reach 30 GW capacity by 2029, with 9.4 GW already installed.

The company has also deployed 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage systems at Khavda, among the largest single-location installations globally, enhancing grid stability and renewable integration.

AGEL uses advanced bifacial solar modules and solar trackers to maximise efficiency, along with high-capacity wind turbines.

Additionally, waterless robotic cleaning systems ensure minimal water usage, improving sustainability and operational performance.
