Adani Electricity & Adani Foundation Empower Women Entrepreneurs Through Swateja Mart

Adani Electricity, in collaboration with the Adani Foundation, has announced the remarkable success of its Swateja Mart initiative, which enabled women entrepreneurs to generate sales of Rs 2.7 lakh during the week-long ‘Maha Mela’.

Held from September 21 to 28, the event offered a unique platform for women from Entrepreneurial Self-Help Groups (ESHGs) to display and sell their handmade and homemade products across various Adani Electricity offices and government establishments.

The initiative not only improved the financial livelihoods of participating women but also enhanced their confidence and encouraged self-reliance.

Locations such as Adani Electricity offices, Mantralaya, World Trade Centre, and Mumbai Airport’s T2 contributed to the cumulative sales, reflecting the widespread impact of the programme.

An Adani Electricity spokesperson said, “Swateja Mart demonstrates our commitment to sustainable community development. Through Project Swabhimaan, we are creating an ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and self-reliance among women from underprivileged communities.”

Extensive Training and Professional Support

Over 4,500 women entrepreneurs participated in the Swateja Mart, which featured 20 stalls offering handicrafts, organic goods, homemade products, and a cloud kitchen for aspiring food entrepreneurs.

To ensure quality and safety, more than 60 ESHG members received comprehensive training from the Indian Hotel Management (IHM) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in areas such as food preparation, hygiene, and safety.

Since its launch in 2022, Project ‘Swabhimaan’ has significantly advanced women’s empowerment and livelihood generation.

The programme offers an Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) that includes training, financial literacy, business plan development, and upskilling for women in Malad-Malwani, Mira Road, and Bhayandar.

To date, the initiative has facilitated credit linkages worth Rs 4.81 crore for 171 women’s self-help groups, benefiting 1,224 ESHG members. More than 500 women now own businesses, with an average income increase of 29 per cent.

The Adani Foundation has long focused on strategic social investments across India.

A foundation spokesperson stated, “Swateja Mart provides a tangible pathway for women to achieve ‘Lakhpati Didi’ status, fostering self-sustaining ventures and empowering communities through skills, resources, and opportunities.”

By promoting entrepreneurship and financial independence, the Swateja Mart initiative continues to pave the way for a more inclusive and empowered future for women across Maharashtra.
