Nadi's statue has devotional significance
Lord Shiva is known as the spiritual father of the world and he is one of the most loved deities of Hindus. In any Lord Shiva temple, there is an idol of Nandi facing the Lord’s idol. Many people are not aware of the significance of Nandi’s idol in the temple premise but as per the mythological texts, there is a spiritual significance of his idol there located before Lord Shiva’s idol.
Some Hindu beliefs say that Nandi is there as the gatekeeper of Lord Shiva who examines His devotees. Those who pass this test, open the way forward to reach Lord Shiva.
The idol of Nandi remains in the temples of Lord Shiva right in front of him which is also known to be the reason for Lord Shiva’s smile. The mere presence of Nandi gives happiness to Lord Shiva. It is believed that every wish uttered in the ears of Nandi is fulfilled.
Nandi is dear to Lord Shiva
It is believed that Nandi is very dear to Lord Shiva’s heart. As per a mythological story, when Lord Shiva had the poison during the Samudra Manthan, some drops of it spilled on the earth, which Shiva devotee Nandi licked with his tongue. Seeing this Lord Shiva smiled and blessed saying, “Whoever visits Nandi before my darshan, all his wishes will be fulfilled!” Nandi is also known as the divine vehicle of Lord Shiva.
Nandi’s darshan before Shiv Shankar
It is believed that Nandi, the divine gatekeeper of Lord Shiva, tests his devotees. Those who pass this test, open their way forward to reach Lord Shiva. They say if devotees utter the words of their wishes in the ears of Nandi and then present the same request before Lord Shiva, that wish of the devotee is definitely fulfilled.
Keeping this in mind, make sure when you say your wish in Nandi’s ears, nobody should be hearing your words. If someone else overhears this, then what you say will not remain confidential. One more thing, although you can say your words in any ear of Nandi, nevertheless, if you say it in his left ear then its importance is certainly much more.
