The Tons River Bridge of Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ: The bridge which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, on Monday afternoon developed a crack in the slab joiner after which traffic was stopped on this bridge.
According to official records this bridge was constructed on Tons river situated in Nari Bari village about month back. Total expenditure for construction of this bridge was Rs 63 crore.
The foundation stone of this bridge was laid by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya about two and a half years ago. The bridge has been constructed by Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation. This bridge was to facilitate the movement of people of about 200 villages of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from this, this bridge has been built to provide great convenience to many villages of Bara, Naribari, Kheri, Lediyari, Koraon.Similarly, there has been a problem in Pachdevra ROB built near Mirzapur-Prayagraj Highway in Yamunapar. There is a gap in the jointer and the approach road has caved in at many places.
Its cost is approximately Rs 42 crore. More or less, the condition of Dighia ROB is also the same. In that too, people are facing problems due to space in the jointer. There are huge potholes in the approach road of this ROB, built with an expenditure of approximately Rs 41 crore.
The pebbles have been dislodged. Of the roads that have been inaugurated, the gravel on many of them has been uprooted.
Taking serious note of this incident District Magistrate Mr Navneet Singh Chahal has instructed the concerned officials to get the bridge repaired at the earliest. Later the technical investigation will be done by the experts of the MNNIT as to how the flaws came in the construction.
