The Indian cricket team, captained by Rohit Sharma, has been having a great start to their Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign. However, on Thursday, during their match against Bangladesh in Pune, all-rounder Hardik Pandya suffered a leg injury that caused him to hobble off the field. Pandya attempted to block a drive from Litton Das with his right leg in the ninth over of the Bangladeshi innings, but he slipped in the process.

Even though it appeared that Pandya would be able to go on, his running was becoming problematic; therefore, the team management made the decision to remove him from the attack and give the ball to Virat Kohli.

Bangladesh stand-in-captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bat against India.

Star all-rounder and skipper Shakib was ruled out of the game due to a quad injury.

“Shakib is having some difficulty, so Nasum is filling in for him. We aim to maintain our current form, as we have some wonderful memories of India. I’m hoping for a fantastic match,” Shanto remarked.

Taskin Ahmed was replaced in the Bangladeshi squad by Hasan Mahmud, while India picked an unchanged squad.
