Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that the 1984 Anti Sikh riot victims got their grievances addressed under the NDA government and that no Congress government, government supported by the grand old party or the government ruled by the Congress led coalition has ever paid any attention to the problems faced by the Sikhs due to Anti – Sikh riots that took place in the year 1984.

Shah was addressing an event organised by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. There in that event he expressed his gratitude for the contribution of the Sikhs starting from pre-independence era. “From the struggle of freedom to the Covid Pandemic the contributions and efforts of the Sikhs is enormous,”
He also highlighted the teachings of Guru Nanak and Guru Teg Bahadur and said the present Union Government is committed to fight for the women empowerment and this is why the bill seeking 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and the state assemblies have been passed . Shah credited the Sikhs of supporting women’s empowerment days back from Mata Khivi’s langar, a practice that reflects the ethos of gender equality.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were Jathedar of Takht Patna Sahib Giani Baldev Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa, National Minorities Commission chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura, and Tarlochan Singh, among others.
