4 Arrested, 2 Detained For Killing Two Manipur Students
Killing Of Manipur Students Case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made four arrests and detained two people in connection with the terrible slayings of two students in Manipur in July, whose photos appeared on social media last week. Aside from the two girls who are being held in the state capital Imphal, the four include two males and two women. The four have been transported by air to Guwahati, Assam.
Operation successful
In a coordinated operation, the police and the army apprehended the suspects in the hill area of Churachandpur, 51 kilometers from Imphal, where ethnic unrest started on May 3. The forces quickly drove to the airport where a CBI team was waiting for them after apprehending them. Around 5:45 p.m., the CBI team and the suspects boarded the final flight out of Imphal.
When they learned about the arrests, some people, according to sources, tried to head for the airport. In Churachandpur, where several Kuki insurgent groups that have signed the suspension of operations (SoO) agreement are based, Colonel (retired) Nectar Sanjenbam, who was recently appointed Senior Superintendent (Combat) of Police, oversaw the covert operation to apprehend the suspects. The 21 Para (Special Forces) is where Colonel Sanhenbam has served.

On September 26, images of the two students’ bodies who had vanished in July appeared on social media, prompting the Manipur government to promise quick action.
Although the two pupils, both minors, have already been the subject of CBI investigation, their remains have not yet been located. According to officials who spoke to media, investigators are also looking into claims that the kid was raped before being killed. The two pupils, who are both 17 years old, are pictured seated in the grassy compound of what appears to be an armed group’s improvised camp in the bush.
