Man Claims His Pay Was Reduced As a Result Of Being Stuck In The Company Elevator

In addition to recording conversations with HR and AM and higher-level grievance escalation, he also taped the elevator accident.

On his way to work, a Reddit member described the terrifying experience of becoming caught in an elevator. Later, he was surprised to learn that his employer had reduced his pay as a result of the delay and had marked him missing. His post has received a lot of attention on the social media site and has angered many readers. The user discusses the ongoing elevator issues in his office building as well as his experience becoming stuck for a long three-hour period in the early morning hours.

“Well, yesterday I was in the elevator and all of a sudden it stopped working and the power went out. I was unable to get in touch with my office or the maintenance division. After several failed phone calls, I finally succeeded in telling HR about my predicament, and they dispatched a repair worker. They finally managed to get me out of the elevator after three hours, the Redditor stated.

“HR said you were late, so you will be marked as absent, and your salary will also be withheld,” I added as I clocked in. When I said I would take leave and go home if they marked me as being absent, my AM told me I had to work because they were short-staffed. I then informed them that it wasn’t my fault. They started to threaten me about my appraisal and work ethic, how I was making excuses, did not put in the effort, and lacked drive, and said that if you don’t let me punch in and rectify the in-time, I’m taking the day off.

He claimed to have videotaped the elevator accident and written down his conversations with the HR and AM, and he was considering taking his complaint up a tier.

It has accumulated several comments and about 500 upvotes since it was uploaded a day ago.

Someone said, “Wth. If I am absent, I will not be able to work. In reality, you should receive reimbursement from your employer for this inconvenience. Change your employer.
It seems like a hazardous environment to work. If you can, look for a new position. Keep in mind that business is not your buddy, said another.
