Gyanvapi has been a matter of discourse and dispute for a long time and now UP CM Yogi Adityanath said in his interview with ANI that the government is putting all efforts to find a solution to this issue. He said that inside Gyanvapi, there are statues of deities and Hindus have not put them there.
“If we call it a mosque, there will be a dispute and the government wants a resolution to it”, he said adding that it has been a ‘historical mistake’ from the Muslim side and therefore they should step forward for its resolution.
He also questioned the trident’s placement in the monument – If it’s a mosque, what is the trishool doing there?

Yogi Adityanath’s interview has come just before the Allahabad High Court is set to deliver its verdict on a plea against a Varanasi district court ordering the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) to conduct survey to determine if it is a mosque built over a temple.
The High Court has reserved its order till August 3. Yogi Adityanath also bashed Mamata Banerjee saying that he has been Chief Minister of UP for more than 6 years to date and there has been no riot. There have been Panchayat, mayoral, and, assembly elections in UP but the state never faced any riot as it happens in Bengal and nobody including Mamata is uttering a single word on the Bengal riots.
