Medical Entrance Test NEET Aspirant Found Dead In Room In Rajasthan’s Kota

Five such suicides were reported in May, bringing the total to ten since the beginning of the year

Police stated that an 18-year-old West Bengal NEET aspirant, who was studying for the medical entrance exam at a coaching institute in Rajasthan’s Kota, died this morning after being discovered unconscious in his paying guest accommodation.

DSP Harshraj, circle officer of the Mahaveer Nagar area, said, “The student was transported to MBS hospital by the PG owner after being found unconscious this morning, but was declared brought dead by doctors”.

He further said that the cause of death remains under investigation.

According to DSP, the student, Paritosh Koheri, shared a room with another student.

“This morning the roommate had gone to the market and when he returned to the room after around 20-25 minutes, he found Paritosh lying unconscious near the door of the room”, DSP continued.

Following the arrival of his family members, the officer stated that the body was transferred for a forensic examination.

“The student had been residing in PG for around four months before being admitted to a coaching institute to prepare for the medical entrance exam”, the DSP added.

Awadesh Singh, a sub-inspector at Mahaveer Nagar Police Station, claimed Paritosh’s roommate also took online lessons.

Though the cause of the student’s death was not immediately clear, there has been a string of suspected suicide fatalities since the NEET-UG 2023 was held on May 7.
