Biggest Drug Seizure In 2 Decades: NCB Seized 15,000 Blots of LSD, 6 Arrested; READ Here

NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) on Tuesday did the biggest drug seizure in past 20 years as they seized 15000 blots of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide). This is a very harmful chemical based hallucinogenic drug which can cause severe addiction. 6 people were arrested along with the seized drugs in the case.

NCB Deputy Director General issues statement on drug seizure

NCB Deputy Director General (DG) Gyaneshwar Singh stated that the commercial quantity LSD was 0.1 gram and the drug consignment which was seized was two-and-a-half thousand times more than the commercial quantity.

“We have arrested six people in two cases and seized 15,000 blots of LSD drug, which is 2.5 thousand more than the commercial quantity. The commercial quantity of this drug is 0.1 gram. It’s a synthetic drug and is very dangerous. It’s the biggest seizure in the last two decades,” Mr. Singh said.

The wide-spread network of drugs

According to the NCB officials, the drug network was widely spread across countries like Poland, Netherlands and the United States. This did not just involve one nation. It was a lot bigger than that. It was spread in India in states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR.

Expressing himself over this, Mr. Singh said, “We seized 2.5 kilograms of marijuana, Rs 4.65 lakh and Rs 20 lakhs deposited in bank accounts.” He also mentioned that, “The drug used to be imported to India from Poland, the Netherlands, and the United States. The drug trafficking network was active on the darknet and payment was done through cryptocurrency.” Officials have also pressed on to the increase in the usage of drugs by the Indian youth.

Darknet, as the name suggests is the darker side of the internet which is not accessible and even accessed by the common people. It can only be accessed with special kind of software and authorisation.
