Sterling Harrison Cummings, of North Carolina, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse in connection with the death of his infant son.
According to the report, the father was supposedly babysitting the youngster while his mother went grocery shopping. When she returned, she discovered that the baby was not breathing and that the bottle she had prepared for him had not been given to him.
A neighbor performed CPR and called 911. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and the doctors said that Waylon was suffering from retinal hemorrhaging (bleeding in the eye’s retina) and had an abnormal MRI.
Mr. Cummings, 33, according to investigators, made numerous contradictory assertions. Unfortunately, the infant died as a result of his injuries, and his death was considered a homicide.
The man was charged with murder in the first degree and felony child abuse. It’s the second time he’s been charged with child abuse.
Cummings’ two children were adopted by Tracy and Allan Trepcyk. They were present for the court appearance.
“We tried to warn everyone that he was going to do it again”, Tracy explained.
In 2013, Mr. Cummings pleaded guilty to criminal child abuse.
“I’m just hoping that in this situation, they get it right”, Tracy remarked.
“I’ll never be able to wrap my arms around it”, Allan predicted.
“I just know he’s a dangerous person who needs to be locked up”, Allan added.
