On Saturday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra praised the party’s triumph in the Karnataka assembly elections as the victory of politics that unites the country.
Priyanka Gandhi ran a high-octane campaign, speaking at 13 public gatherings and taking part in 12 road shows. She also hosted two women’s meetings and a workers’ meeting.
According to data on the Election Commission’s website, the Congress has won 79 of Karnataka’s 224 assembly seats so far, leading in 57, while the BJP has won 39 and leads in 27.
So far, the Janata Dal (Secular) has won 14 seats and is leading in six.
Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, “Heartfelt thanks to the people of Karnataka for giving a historic mandate to the Congress party. This is a victory for your cause. This is a victory for Karnataka giving priority to the idea of progress. This is the victory of politics that unites the country. My best wishes to all the hardworking workers and leaders of the Karnataka Congress. All your hard work paid off. The Congress party will work diligently to implement the guarantees given to the people of Karnataka. Jai Karnataka, Jai Congress”, through her official Twitter handle.

The Congress general secretary was referring to the five guarantees made by the party that would be put into effect as soon as it took office in Karnataka.
These promises included 200 units of free electricity to all households (Gruha Jyoti), Rs 2,000 per month in assistance for woman heads of every family (Gruha Lakshmi), 10 kg of rice free for every member of BPL households (Anna Bhagya), Rs 3,000 every month for graduate youths without jobs and Rs 1,500 for unemployed diploma holders (both in the age group of 18-25) for two years (Yuva Nidhi), and free travel for women in public transport buses (Shakti).
