PIB Fact Check Debunks Fake Video Claiming Delhi Police Firing During Protests

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked a viral video falsely claiming that Delhi Police opened fire during protests in the national capital on November 1, 2026, leaving people injured and dead.

The fact-check unit flagged a video shared by the social media account @Anushitiwari22 and clarified that the footage does not show any incident in Delhi.

The video actually captures a clash between garment workers and police in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Workers reportedly vandalised vehicles during protests demanding higher wages. Local news outlets, including Mohona TV, reported the incident. Reverse image searches further established the footage’s actual location.

The misleading claim circulated amid the INDIA bloc’s ‘Chalo Dilli’ rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.

Opposition leaders organised the gathering to demand the resignation of the Election Commissioner.

The false narrative suggested that Delhi Police had opened fire on protesters, resulting in casualties. However, Delhi Police confirmed that no firing took place and reported no related deaths or injuries.

The PIB Fact Check unit urged social media users to verify videos and claims before sharing them.

The incident highlights how footage from one country can circulate online with a misleading location and context, creating confusion during politically sensitive events.
