Ambuja Cements Limited on Monday announced a Rs 14,500 crore growth investment programme to add 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cement capacity through greenfield and brownfield projects across key markets.

The expansion will strengthen its manufacturing presence in the eastern, western and northern regions, taking its total capacity to 155 MTPA by FY30.

The company currently operates at 113.5 MTPA across 24 integrated plants and 24 grinding units.

Vinod Bahety, CEO of the Cement Business at Adani Group, said the expansion would create a more balanced manufacturing network by strengthening the link between clinker and grinding capacity and bringing production closer to high-growth markets.

The proposed expansion further includes 15.5 MTPA of additional grinding capacity in the western cluster, 11.6 MTPA in the eastern cluster and 2.9 MTPA in the northern cluster.

The company also plans to add clinker capacity at three locations. These include 4 MTPA at Umrangso in Assam, 4 MTPA at Maratha and 2.3 MTPA at Mundra in Gujarat.

Bahety said the projects would improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce transportation distances and lower logistics costs. The company aims to bring its production cost down to Rs 4,000 per tonne by FY28.

Ambuja added 4.6 MTPA in H1 FY27 through expansions at Dahej and Kalamboli and a new grinding unit in Uttar Pradesh, taking capacity to 113.5 MTPA.

It expects to add 3.2 MTPA at Bathinda and Jodhpur Penna, while the 2.4 MTPA Warisaliganj unit is due for commissioning in H2 FY27. Capacity is expected to reach 119 MTPA by March 2027.

Since its acquisition, Ambuja has completed 11 projects, adding 16.3 MTPA of cement and 9 MTPA of clinker capacity.
