The seven-day staging of Jaanta Raja concluded at Suncity in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, inspiring young people with the courage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the values of service and compassion.
Organised by Divya Prem Seva Mission, the historical production ran from October 22 to 28. Around 250 artists recreated episodes from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life using horses, elephants, camels, weapons and replicas of historic forts.
Mission president Dr Ashish Gautam said the enthusiastic response demonstrated that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals continued to inspire India’s youth. The organisation had previously staged the production in Lucknow and Agra.
Former President Ram Nath Kovind attended the production’s third day and praised Gautam’s commitment to humanitarian service, describing him as a modern-day divine personality.
On the sixth day, BJP leader Anurag Thakur criticised protesters at Jantar Mantar, calling them ‘New Mughals’ and accusing them of disregarding India’s cultural heritage. MP Manoj Tiwari and Uttar Pradesh BJP vice-president Suresh Rana also attended.
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar and former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari highlighted Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership and historical legacy.
Organisers reported that daily attendance exceeded 25,000 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Students from educational institutions across Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh also attended.
Dr Gautam highlighted Ghaziabad’s historical connection with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, citing his reported visit to Shri Dudheshwar Nath Math in 1666.
Established on January 12, 1997, Divya Prem Seva Mission provides healthcare, education, food and vocational training to disadvantaged communities, including children of people affected by leprosy. Its initiatives also promote environmental protection and Ganga conservation.
