Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings on the sixth day of Navratri, offering prayers to Maa Katyayani and wishing that her blessings bring strength, courage and positive energy into everyone’s lives.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister offered his salutations to the goddess and expressed hope that her grace would empower people with renewed determination and positivity.

“On the sacred sixth day of Navratri, countless salutations at the holy feet of Maa Katyayani! My heartfelt wish is that through Her grace, boundless strength, courage, and positive energy infuse every life,” PM Modi posted.

The Prime Minister also shared a YouTube link to Bhavani Ashtakam, a devotional bhajan dedicated to Maa Durga, performed by Madhvi Madhukar Jha.

He further shared a Sanskrit verse dedicated to Maa Jagadambika, highlighting the goddess’s divine presence in words, thoughts and forms.

The verse conveys that every word can become a hymn in praise of the goddess, as her divine form encompasses all words. It also expresses the belief that the goddess’s presence can be seen in every thought that arises in the mind and every form that appears in the world.

Maa Katyayani, worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri, is the sixth form of Goddess Durga. Devotees revere her as a symbol of courage, strength, determination and the protection of righteousness.

During the nine-day festival, devotees worship the different forms of Goddess Durga through prayers, rituals and devotional ceremonies. Many also observe fasts and seek the goddess’s blessings for prosperity, peace, strength and well-being.

Shardiya Navratri holds great religious significance across India, with temples and homes hosting special prayers and celebrations. The festival concludes with Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, which symbolises the victory of good over evil.
